Infrared is a form of light that can be seen through a special lens. Just as a normal camera can take picture with normal light, there are special camera lenses that detect infrared radiation, revealing heat sources.
What is infrared thermography?
Infrared thermography uses infrared technology to produce images of and measure otherwise invisible heat energy emitted from objects and systems in the home.
The infrared camera allows the inspector to show you things about your home that no one can show you using other inspection methods.
Infrared thermography inspection
Infrared color images can be included in the inspection report providing supporting documentation to the report. A picture is worth a thousand words. Check out a sample of the report.
How much does an infrared inspection cost?
We offer infrared thermography for $150 as a stand-alone service, but a discount of $50 is applied when requested together with a home inspection.
What can infrared thermography detect?
Infrared thermography helps to diagnose the problem rather than just identify symptoms.
With infrared thermography is possible to identify and document:
- roof leaks
- structural defects
- plumbing leaks
- moisture intrusion
- energy loss and efficiency
- insulation problems in the thermal envelope of the house
- electrical issue such as overloaded and undersized circuits or defective circuit breakers
- broken seals in double pane windows
- pest infestation
